At Bodegas Suau we present the recipe for “Suau Afterwork”, a long drink made for unwinding, with the spirit of the Mediterranean late-afternoon tardeo. Solera, coffee and bubbles! Fresh, warm, balanced, elegant… and with the soul of the island!
Ingredients
- 40 ml Brandy Suau Orange
- 1 freshly brewed espresso (100% Arabica if possible)
- 150 ml sparkling lemonade (or good-quality soda water for a less sweet version)
- Plenty of large ice cubes
- Orange peel and a sprig of mint to garnish
Method
- Fill a highball or balloon glass to the top with ice and stir to chill the glass. Strain off any excess water.
- Pour the Suau Orange directly over the ice.
- Slowly add the well-chilled sparkling lemonade or soda water, leaving about two fingers of space at the top.
- Just before serving, pour the hot espresso into the centre of the glass to create a thick crown of foam and a beautiful colour gradient.
- Squeeze the orange peel over the surface of the cocktail to release its citrus oils, then drop it into the glass along with a sprig of mint.
Suggested pairing
- Savoury afternoon: Quelitas (traditional Mallorcan crackers) with sobrasada, cured Mahón cheese, toasted almonds
- Sweet afternoon: classic ensaimada (plain or filled with angel hair pumpkin jam), dark chocolate (minimum 70%)
Solera, coffee and bubbles.
